How Dilzer Eye Care can help your child

What is Myopia (nearsightedness)?
Myopia (nearsightedness) means that you can see objects clearly up close, but object far away-like the board in a classroom or street signs look blurry. This happens because the eye grows too long, and light focuses in front of the retina instead of directly on it. Myopia develops during childhood when the eyes (and the child) are rapidly growing.
Types of Myopia Control
Our doctors use specialized contacts or drops to treat the underlying cause of myopia-a growing eye. With our treatments, we can stop or slow the eye from growing too long and stop the need for stronger glasses.

Nighttime molds.
Specialized molds that you wear on your eye at night gently reshape the front surface of the eye (the cornea) to reduce nearsightness. Patients wear lenses at night, and enjoy clear, glasses free vision during the day.
Soft Daytime Contact Lenses.
Soft contact lenses are worn during the day. A lens with a unique design that reduces eye strain and helps control the growth of the eye, thus preventing myopia from worsening.
Atropine eye drops.
Eye drops, used at home, one drop in each eye before bed. The drops relax the eye’s focusing system which may help slow down the excessive eye growth. The drops also cause the pupils to widen, reducing the stain on the eye. This is an option for our younger patients or those not able to wear contact lenses.
